The huge long-haul aircraft Boeing 747 completed its maiden flight on February 9, 1969. The jumbo jet had Pratt & Whitney engines with 19,731 kp thrust, a takeoff weight of over 300,000 kg and could transport 385 passengers over a distance of 9,136 km. The 747 was planned by Boeing as a series, the 747-100 was followed by other variants with increased capacities.
