Like normal

A fictional city somewhere on the map. It might as well be called Twin Peaks, as many strange things happen to the heroes (mostly men) who roam its streets.
It is a spine-tingling novel where people are lost at sea inside their home. Strange animals that are pathologically jealous as if they were love partners. Men who play the piano without even touching the keys. The author who sees his book being written by one of his heroes, after first meeting his beautiful heroine on the street. A strangely charming novel.

I kept walking away. He continued to shrink his friend's outline, to dazzle. Until at last it became a dot, so far away he seemed to me, or so far I might have seemed to him where I had been transported, that he could no longer distinguish me. Then and only then I realized for the first time that I was on the foamy water of the sea that was dancing just for me and I started laughing, laughing loudly, laughing for no reason. By the time my face was gone from my face, it had slipped away from me and flown away into the far horizon, like an exotic bird fluttering free.
