Antoine De Saint-Exypery was born in the city of Lyon, France in 1900 at 8 rue Peyrat, (now rue Antoine De Saint Exypery), 3rd child of Antoine Jean Baptiste De Saint Exypery and Marie Roger Fonscolombe. After attending ecclesiastical institutions, where he proved to be an unruly student, he failed successively at the Naval School and the Ecole Centrale, before finally enrolling at the School of Fine Arts. In 1921, on the occasion of his military service, he obtained a pilot's license and became a pilot in the French Air Company and then in Latecoere. At the refueling airport of the Casablanca-Dakar line at Cape Judy in Morocco, he discovered the desert. His first novel, "Post Office of the South", was published in 1928. The following year Saint-Exupéry became director of Aeroposta Argentina in Buenos Aires, where he met Consuelo Suncin, whom he married in 1931. That same year he was awarded the Prix ​​Femina for his novel "Night Flight" and resigned from Aeroposta. He became France-Soir's chief correspondent in Russia and then in Spain in 1936. In 1937, returning to aviation, he established the Casablanca-Timbuktu air link. After a serious accident, he devoted himself to writing. The novel "The land of men", in 1939. won him the Grand Prize for Fiction of the French Academy. At the outbreak of war he returned to active service, despite the state of his health, but was demobilized in Algiers in 1940 due to age. He left for New York, where he tackled a large work, "Castle", which collected the reflections of a lifetime and was not published until 1948. In 1943 he published "The Little Prince" and "Letter to a Hostage". He returned to Europe to join the French Air Force with the rank of Major. On July 31, 1944, he carried out a reconnaissance mission to the Rhine Valley, from where he did not return. Saint Exupery disappeared with his plane in 1944, off Corsica, while on his ninth war mission chasing German fighter jets.
