The garden with the statues

Summer in the sea city. A large group of children live the joys of the holidays carefree, swimming, playing, exchanging secrets, words of love, news of the unknown world. Their favorite haunt, a flowery garden with ancient statues, preserved there to be sent to the Museum of Sparta. Had the little friends found them while playing, deeply buried in the sand, had they cleaned them, had they admired them? they loved them. They understood that they were sent by the distant ancestors and their minds ran, dazzled, to them and their art of beauty. They asked, they learned, they respected the history and the homeland.
The children, the statues, the sea, the carefree summer, the various events, the dreams of tomorrow, the life in the quiet city, the songs from the cafes and the boats, the sailor relatives with the news of the sea, but also getting to know everyone with the holy face of the homeland that radiated simplicity and beauty of soul, they lend to the book the joy and grace that the fortunate friends tasted, in company of which the author also belonged.
