Many times I wonder, if I were my teacher, what would I see in me? I definitely wasn't confident. I certainly wasn't able to bond easily with other kids - getting to know each other in the classrooms didn't have the importance we give it today. There wasn't even the need that exists today. Need to acknowledge our feelings, our uniqueness, to accept each other, to talk about what we feel and to respect what others around us feel. In the past, all this was not even on the table or was done without much talk. Or they didn't happen at all.
In recent years the word empathy goes from mouth to mouth, without anyone daring to explain it. This guide is designed to do just that. I don't say "written", because primarily it is experienced, it is activities implemented with young and older children and the ultimate goal is to get to know themselves. I had the joy of seeing their eyes light up, being surprised that a teacher cared about how they felt, laughing because I was laughing with them or talking or playing, all with the goal of helping them find the best version of themselves.
The activities are structured as simply as possible. With simple materials, useful and everyday, with easy instructions, divided into three parts: the action as it could be developed-worked in the kindergarten or in the small classes of the elementary school (a', b' and c'), how it could give an extra dose in the large elementary classes (4th, 5th and 5th) and how it could become part of a child's daily life at home.
Whether you are a teacher, a teacher, a parent or a caregiver, I invite you to live with the children these unique moments that each page describes.
