The tragic fires in Greece in the summer of 2023, but also in many other countries, from one end to the other end of the earth, highlighted once again the state of emergency in which the planet is marching due to the climate crisis.
The major energy crisis triggered by the war in Ukraine highlighted, among other things, the many weak points of the European energy strategy. The major dilemmas for global economies replacing fossil fuels with renewables, the new geopolitical balances with China's heavy role in the green transition, waste management, the importance of forests in the ecological balance, water pollution, the contribution of industry trends in emissions, the role of smart digital agriculture, modern transport, the role of industry, the necessary changes, finally, in the daily behavior of all of us, they are analyzed in a simple and, above all, constructive way through the conversation of Yiannis Maniatis with Makis Provatas.
An important part of the book is dedicated to Greek conditions and priorities. Energy democracy, energy poverty, energy conservation, energy communities, national hydrocarbon deposits, the country's major geopolitical initiatives to evolve into an energy hub: a global network of interdependent problems is thoroughly analyzed and, above all, a series of comprehensive solutions are proposed for the present and the future of the country, within the complex economic and international environment that is formed every day.
