In this book Yanis Varoufakis analyzes, in the form of a long letter to his father, how capitalism was murdered by something much worse that took its place. Capitalism was killed by capital itself! Not traditional capital (industrial machines, computers, etc.), but a mutation of capital: machines networked through "cloud computing" (a kind of "cloud-capital") that run algorithms designed to shape our consumer desires and satisfy directly, thus bypassing the two pillars of capitalism: Market and Profit. By entering websites such as Amazon, etc., we exit markets and enter trading platforms that resemble digital fiefdoms (or cloud-fiefdoms) whose owners, the new ruling class, charge producers huge rents to give them access to us. As for us, with every click we make and everything we "upload", we're giving them free labor, like feudal lords. And we offer it with enthusiasm! This is not capitalism. Welcome to technofeudalism! The impact of techno-feudalism is felt everywhere. It is the tombstone of both social democracy and liberalism. It magnifies the financial crisis. It makes it impossible to deal with the climate crisis. Fueling the New Cold War between the US and China. Borrowing from the poetry of Hesiod and Homer, but also from Hollywood's Batman or Mad Men, Varoufakis analyzes how the cloud capital managed to enslave our minds and take off its exploitative power domestically and internationally - but also how we can break free. from his techno-feudalism.

THEY SAID ABOUT 'TALKING TO MY FATHER: AN INTRODUCTION TO TECHNO-FEUDARY':

"A penetrating analysis".
The Guardian

"Mesmerizing... an ambitious thinker and restless writer... Varoufakis is right that we are bogged down by digital applications, which hold our personal data hostage and do not allow us to jump to some "competitive cloud fief".
The Times

"A book for anyone who wants to understand the mess we're in – and since we're all in it, a book for everyone."
Slavoj Zizek

“What if capitalism died unnoticed - not even by the capitalists? Digital platforms appropriated capitalism and imposed something much worse. This book is an urgent call to regain control of our lives in the digital world."
Cory Doctorow

"It will certainly be a cornerstone in discussions about the future of the global economy."
Nick Srnicek, one of the authors of Inventing the Future

“Amazing. A dark, scary, haunting song for our times. 100 out of 100".
Irvine Welsh, author of Trainspotting

"With brilliant storytelling, Varoufakis demonstrates how capitalism ate its own flesh."
Brett Scott, author of Cloudmoney

“One thing is for sure - we have no hope of improving things unless we fully understand the impasse we are in. This book is a welcome contribution in this direction."
